Hi, I'm Pariah and I'm addicted to Linux.....
Yeah, yeah..that's me..
Okay yes, that's me. Hey, geeks aren't supposed to be cute. It's evolution. I used to be a party girl back in the day but then I developed some health problems that kept me house-bound a lot and I ended up turning geek. Most of my friends are still in shock.
So my story? One day, I was working in 'Media Player' in Windows when it crashed (for about the 10th time that day) and I just got sick and tired of having to open up the Task Manager and play find and shut down the process and maybe it will in 10 minutes...ugh..I thought there had to be something better, so I looked it up....and found something better.
So I started using Linux in March of 08; Debian was the distro that started it all. Yes, I am still a newbie. I am a more advanced newbie who got really tired of trying to find out the answers to reasonably simple questions in a million different places. That is not a newbie friendly process and let's face it; the goal is to get as many people using open-source software as possible to bring down the monopoly that Microsoft has inflicted upon the masses.
So, in order to make the switching process one that I would have found helpful when I first started out, I created my first website:
The New Linux User
Then not too long after that, my Wordpress page became over-stuffed with Linux and tech posts, so I created a Wordpress blog just for my Linux posts:
Obsessive Compulsive Linux Disorder
I get quite a bit of traffic on that blog, people leaving comments and advice and such. This inspired me to create a companion website that would have that same kind of feel to it. And also, GoDaddy was having a .99 cent sale....
My Next Project
To celebrate the party girl I used to be as well as the geek girl I have become, I want to get a Linux inspired tattoo! Yes, I know it's weird but I thought it would be interesting. So, here's the idea I had for the tattoo I would get if I had the money to get one.
I think I would have it all in black so it would look tribal and then have debian powered right under it...if you want to spread the love of Linux, donate to the cause!
